What is the hardness of my tap water?Updated 8 months ago
Water hardness is a measure of the amount of minerals, mainly calcium and magnesium, present in water. These minerals occur naturally in water as it flows through soil and rocks. Hard water contains more of these minerals, while soft water contains less of them. The hardness of water can affect things like the formation of scale in pipes and appliances, and the taste of the water.
The hardness of tap water varies (sometimes greatly) according to the region.
The water company that supplies your drinking water is obliged to publish figures on the hardness of your water.
